Puerto Galera Dive

After a couple of months spent in Panglao Island, Bohol, I decided to impulsively quit my dive master course. I was at the verge of completing it with only a few tests pending. For some personal reasons, I don’t wanna stay in Alona Beach anymore, my feet is dragging me away from the tiny island just because the road as you know is my abode. Moreover, I have reasons I just couldn’t find the right words to write it.

Before quitting, I’ve already asked around if I could still complete the course somewhere else given all the documents as proof of what has been done so far. Of course, that is ok. It didn’t took me a long while to decide where I wanted to finish the DM program.

As soon as arrived home in Laguna, I unpacked my luggage removing my dirty clothes and replaced them with clean ones, and yes, I was ready to leave again. I spent some time with my parents – just after 2 nights of my stay in Laguna, I took my backpack again and rode all the way to Batangas then board a motorised boat to Sabang beach in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Spent a couple of nights, I finished all the tests in one day, and did fun diving the next day.

I am actually surprised how magnificent the dive in Puerto Galera. I realised I don’t have to fly very far from Laguna to see such a wonderful reef system teeming with life. 2-hour van ride plus 30 minutes by boat, I was happy I did my last holiday trip in the Philippines at Puerto Galera before leaving for my Australian dream.

Shout out to Instructor Julienne and Gracian, then employees of Scuba for Change, and jhe’ai for the warm welcome in Galera. Instructor Julienne is now a freelance dive instructor, so if you want to get your first ever diving license or level up your certification, send her a message in instagram. She’d be happy to accommodate you.
